Omygoshomygoshomygosh! You guys, I’m so ridiculously happy I can’t stop grinning. Even when I’m sleeping. I woke up in the middle of the night last night and realised there was a great big grin on my face…at 2a.m.
My oldest boy surprised me by coming to visit! I had no clue…he was very good at keeping it a secret. As was my husband, who knew all about Joshua’s plan.
I haven’t seen him in a year and a half when he used the plane ticket he’d gotten as a Xmas present to come visit. I love living in England. I love everything about it…except that my older son still lives in the States.
Thursday started off really badly. My husband and I got in an argument. I was looking forward to meeting a friend for lunch later that day, and mentioned to him that I’d be out of his hair soon. So then he started asking me what time I’d be back because he had a surprise for me. Because I was irritated with him and didn’t really believe him, I was non-committal with my answer. He asked where we were meeting and insisted I keep my phone with me. Because he had a surprise for me.
I was not feeling particularly generous toward him. I now can’t help thinking he started that argument on purpose. He was so proud that he had a surprise for me that would cheer me up.
Imagine my surprise a couple hours later when I’m sitting in the café with my friend and my son walks through the door. It was one of the best surprises I’ve ever gotten. This puts some of my writing plans into disarray, but guess what? I don’t care. For the next three weeks I have both of my boys with me. Together.
