I learned today that May is Short Story Month in the States. This makes me happy, not only because I like short stories so much but also because my own story will come out on the 29th. I find that rather apropos.
Although I’ve written stories for as long as I can remember, it wasn’t until I was in 7th grade that I realised just how beautiful and powerful a short story can be. That’s when I read “All Summer In A Day” by Ray Bradbury. It remains my favourite short story to this day.
For several reasons, I like the thought of reading and sharing stories with one another. So a whole month dedicated to such literary activities is highly appealing. I’m looking forward to discovering new authors as well as revisiting old favourites this month.
